As soft as silk, as white as milk,
As bitter as gall, a thick wall,

    This Nursery Rhyme is a riddle too.
    The answer is: “a walnut”.

    This rhyme can be found in The Nursery Rhyme Book, edited by Andrew Lang and illustrated by L. Leslie Brooke (1897).
